The expert I admire

I deeply admire Marie Curie, as she was an outstanding chemist whose legacy has made an indelible mark in the field of science. I admire her for her tireless dedication and remarkable work in the field of radioactivity. Curie was a pioneer in studying this phenomenon and made significant contributions to our understanding of radioactive elements. Her discovery of polonium and radium revolutionized the field of chemistry and opened new doors in medicine and nuclear physics. Marie Curie was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, and she received it twice: in Physics in 1903 and in Chemistry in 1911. Her passion and determination enabled her to overcome numerous challenges and prejudices of her time to excel as a scientist. In addition to her scientific achievements, Curie was also an advocate for gender equality and promoted the participation of women in science. Her life and career serve as an inspiring example for me and many others, demonstrating that hard work, perseverance,...

My favorite meal: tomaticán

After considering among many dishes, I think the one I enjoy eating and making the most, due to its simplicity, is "tomaticán," a very typical dish from the central and southern regions of the country (from what I know). Preparing it doesn't require much effort; it's quite easy and doesn't take much time. The ingredients, which are few, include tomatoes, onions, garlic, meat (optional), corn, basil, tomato sauce, and of course, seasonings. To prepare it, you only need to sauté the onions with the garlic for a few minutes and then add the meat, season it to taste, and wait until it's cooked. After that, you add the remaining ingredients, leaving the tomato sauce for the final step, and let it simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. And it would be ready! I think what I like the most about it is the combination of flavors with the tomato sauce. Recipes that include tomatoes or sauce, in my opinion, enhance the taste of the other ingredients. Additionally, its consi...

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology: My favorite tech device is the computer. I can say it's my favorite because it has been with me for most of my life and has made things easier for me, both academically and for entertainment. I truly feel that it's incredibly useful and, at least for me, it's something I can't do without. When I think about how I use it, a lot of things come to mind. It covers a wide range of activities, from formal and academic tasks like assignments and college projects, studying for my courses, accessing the university's website, and more. On a personal level, I enjoy listening to music, watching series or movies, and playing video games (which is one of my favorite things to do on the computer). It really helps me with whatever I need or want to do. I can say that it has been immensely helpful over the years. I got my first computer through a student benefit when I was younger, and since then, I've been able to do so much more than before. ...

Blog 2

When I was a child, I didn't really think much about what I wanted to be when I grew up. I enjoyed living in my own little world and doing things that made me happy. Looking back, I remember being fascinated by animals and how they felt. Even today, I still care about their well-being. However, I eventually gave up on the idea of working with animals when I realized that they could die in any circumstances. I would have liked to study geology or even music and visual arts, but I considered my economic situation and wanted to improve it. In addition to the high earning potential of a pharmacy degree, I'm also drawn to chemistry - discovering and creating new things in the laboratory, learning and being in that environment. The first two semesters were quite challenging due to the transition from high school to university and from my hometown to the bustling city of Santiago. Fortunately, during this time, I met many people who I now consider to be my friends. They have made my u...

Autobiography RSA

Hello Professor René Larenas My name is Raquel Salazar Allendes, and I am currently 19 years old, although my birthday is coming up soon. Originally, I am from San Pedro, a rural commune that belongs to the province of Melipilla in the Metropolitan Region. In primary school, I studied in a rural school in my commune, and then in high school, I applied to a semi-private school in Melipilla, where I also lived to avoid having to travel long distances. I graduated from high school in 2020, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to enter university last year, although it was actually for the best. After studying for the entrance exam, I decided to apply for Chemistry and Pharmacy at Universidad de Chile, where I am currently in my second year of the program. As for my family, who really made me feel like a family, it was my father and my maternal grandmother. My father's name was Juan Salazar, and he was the best father in the world, one of the people I love the most. Sadly,...
